Pazh news | The president of the Third International Congress of Surgical Oncology announced in a press conference that holding this event in Mashhad indicates the high level of medical capabilities of this city in the field of surgical oncology.
He added ‘In Mashhad we are capable of performing all types of cancer surgeries and are even ahead of other centers in some cases.’ One of the main goals of this congress is to exchange experiences and enhance knowledge in this field.
Dr. Ehsan Soltani the president of the congress pointed out the existing challenges stating: ‘Compared to some other countries we face limitations in terms of medical equipment. This is due to budgetary constraints.’
Dr. Soltani referring to recent advancements in medicine stated: ‘Today cancer treatment has been divided into various specialties. This approach ensures patients receive more accurate and effective treatments reducing confusion.’
Dr. Soltani emphasizing support for cancer patients stated: ‘No cancer patient will be deprived of treatment due to financial difficulties. Patients without supplementary insurance can access free medical services in public hospitals. Public hospitals as leading centers in cancer treatment strive to provide comprehensive services to patients and will not refer any patient to other centers due to a lack of equipment.’
Dr. Soltani the president of the congress highlighting Mashhad’s prominent position in surgical oncology stated: ‘Mashhad University of Medical Sciences is recognized as one of the main hubs for surgical oncology in the country and hosts prominent surgeons from across the nation. Hosting this international congress is a significant step towards advancing scientific knowledge and exchanging experiences in this field.’
Dr. Soltani added: ‘One of the main focuses of this congress is on advanced surgical techniques and pre-operative treatments which contribute to improved treatment outcomes and increased patient survival rates. Alongside the congress four live surgical workshops will be held for physicians to familiarize themselves with the latest surgical techniques.’
He further stated ‘This congress will be attended by over 350 specialists and physicians. Dr. Soltani noting the extensive participation stated: ‘This congress will feature speakers from various cities in Iran as well as Canada and the United Kingdom. Additionally physicians and specialists from Afghanistan Tajikistan and Iraq will participate online. This highlights the significance and international standing of this congress.’
He added ‘Numerous patients from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries seek medical treatment particularly in the field of surgical oncology in Mashhad.’
Dr. Ehsan Hasanzadeh Haddad the head of the operating room at Omid Hospital and the executive secretary of the congress stated: ‘Omid Hospital strives to minimize treatment costs for Iranian patients. On average the cost of a surgery in this hospital is around 3 to 4 million Tomans.’
Dr. Soltani added: ‘Many of the hospital’s equipment have been provided through the generosity of donors and public support. Therefore treatment costs for Iranian patients are very reasonable.’
Dr. Hasanzadeh Haddad referring to foreign patients visiting Mashhad said: ‘Iran and particularly Mashhad has made significant advancements in surgical oncology. However to compete with developed countries we need to invest more in medical equipment.’
